What is Wedeogen and how does it work?

Wedeogen is a self-hosted tool that automates the process of transforming long-form videos into short-form clips. It works by allowing you to define segments in your videos, add captions, and customize the output format.
You upload your video, define the clips you want to extract using our intuitive interface or JSON configuration, trigger the rendering process, and download the finished clips ready for platforms like TikTok, YouTube Shorts, and Instagram Reels.

What are the system requirements for running Wedeogen?

Wedeogen is designed to run on any server with Docker support. For optimal performance, we recommend at least 4GB RAM, 2 CPU cores, and 20GB of storage space. For processing FHD videos or handling large batch operations, we recommend 8GB+ RAM and 4+ CPU cores. Since Wedeogen is fully dockerized, it works on Linux, macOS, and Windows environments.

Can I customize the appearance of the generated clips?

Yes! Wedeogen offers extensive customization options. You can adjust caption styles (font, size, color, position), add custom overlays and watermarks, apply branded intro/outro sequences, and even create your own templates using Remotion and React. This flexibility allows you to maintain consistent branding across all your short-form content.

Does Wedeogen handle different languages for captions?

Absolutely. Wedeogen supports multi-language subtitles and can work with any language your system supports. You can input captions manually, import them from SRT/VTT files, or use our API integrations with speech-to-text services to generate them automatically. The system renders the captions properly regardless of the character set or writing direction.

How does batch processing work?

Batch processing allows you to define multiple clip segments from a single video source and render them all at once. You can define these segments in the UI by marking start and end points, or by providing a JSON configuration file with precise timestamps. Once you trigger the batch render, Wedeogen will process all clips in sequence and notify you when they're ready for download.

Is Wedeogen suitable for non-technical users?

While Wedeogen is designed with developers in mind, it includes a user-friendly web interface that makes it accessible to non-technical users as well. The initial setup requires basic server knowledge (or following our detailed step-by-step installation guide), but once installed, team members can use the intuitive interface to define clips, add captions, and trigger renders without any coding knowledge.

Can I integrate Wedeogen with my existing workflow or applications?

Yes, Wedeogen is built with integration in mind. It offers a comprehensive REST API that allows you to trigger renders, check status, and retrieve results programmatically. This makes it easy to incorporate into content management systems, video platforms, or custom applications. Additionally, the JSON-based configuration system makes it simple to generate clip definitions from other systems.

How does licensing work for Wedeogen?

Wedeogen is currently available with a one-time license purchase that gives you full access to the platform and its capabilities. We're focusing on early adopters and investors during this initial phase, providing premium support and feature prioritization for our first customers. You can choose to deploy Wedeogen on your own servers or use our recommended infrastructure partners with a pay-as-you-go model for resources. Our roadmap includes plans to open-source the UI and automation tools in the future, but we're currently investing in creating the best possible experience for paying users who need a reliable, professional solution for video content transformation.

What file formats does Wedeogen support?

Wedeogen supports all major video formats through its FFmpeg integration, including MP4, MOV, AVI, MKV, and WebM. For output, you can configure the format, codec, bitrate, and resolution to optimize for your target platform. This flexibility ensures compatibility with platforms like TikTok, Instagram, YouTube, and others that may have specific format requirements.

How does Wedeogen handle video quality and compression?

Wedeogen gives you complete control over output quality. You can specify resolution, bitrate, and codec parameters to balance quality and file size. For social media platforms, Wedeogen includes preset configurations optimized for each platform's requirements and recommendations. The FFmpeg integration ensures efficient encoding with options for hardware acceleration on supported systems.

Warning: Wedeogen is now in MVP phase — We're currently offering early access to our minimum viable product. While all core functionalities are operational, you may encounter occasional issues as we continuously improve the platform. Early adopters benefit from direct developer support, priority feature requests, and discounted pricing. Your feedback during this phase is invaluable to us and directly shapes the product roadmap.
